If you need that many cores, you're probably not a gamer. The 9950X or, maybe, 9950X3D would be what you want. Not EVERYTHING gains from the 3D cache, so the 9950X might be the better, cheaper option.

A better question, though, is "Do you really need 32 threads?" A lot of people think so, but even a lot of the Adobe suite is still single threaded, as not everything can be parallelized.

I have a 7950X. its mostly parked and cool. with a fair bit of headroom on the watercooling before if starts complaining about heat during high CPU burst durations. It overkill but it works. The ASUS motherbord is just not the best pairing for it. will never buy ASUS again. 3rd unsatisfactory bord in a row.

As an owner of a 9950x, i can tell you that if i wasnt doing 3d renders, its complete waste of cores. go 9800X3d unless you doing production. Even then, outdated program architecture like Photoshop dont even use more than a few cars most of the time
