EA Play's PC subscription service is R1.2k a year and you get all their games incl. premium versions. Uplay+ is €15 a month, also for the premium editions of all their games. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is R150 a month and includes a metric ton of games for Xbox and PC.

You don't have to spend a lot on games.

Xbox Ultimate Games Pass FTW! Also, Cash Crusader's. BF has always had a love for these types of places and I've never seen the use, until now. Picked these up today for R199 each.

Day one buys at the new prices just cannot be justified for me anymore unless it's a CE with collectible merch I cannot pass up. I have far too many great unplayed titles across XBO, PS4 and Switch to justify new titles on D1 really.

 I know right..or in 2 weeks there is a price increase of 33% if I don't buy it now. It's a gamble..I will just wait out this 2 weeks an hope for the best.

I bought mine on Rockstar, many months ago, and I think it was 45% discounted IIRC. I wouldn't know. I am not really a person which clings onto marketplaces (and launchers) I purchase where the price is right.

Were there any gfx cards when it was R2 to a Dollar?

It's nearing its one year anniversary so discount may get bigger.
Okay you got me ;) but still remember top end gfx cards in the early 2000s being cheap and PS2 games were expensive at 2002 but that was cause it hit almost 12 bucks to the dollar.

Did you get the base or premium? is it worth the price difference? Can I upgrade later if I jave the funds availible?..I'm still new at buying games like this, only bought one game on steam and thats CSGo and there was only one option. The reason why I have to buy it off of steam is because the money is already in my Steam wallet (sold some inventory items) so either way it will still kind of be a free game..I'm just looking to get the most out of it.

I have the Special Edition, at the time the game was discounted the Ultimate Edition wasn't discounted to that extent, but I am a more single player person in any case in these immersion type titles, so I didn't care about the online component. I am unsure whether they allow upgrading at this time because they didn't when I purchased the title. The Special Edition does add additional single player content though I don't know how much the extra side mission or two impacts the main quest line through storytelling and whether it is worth it.

You can however acquire the Ultimate Edition items in RDR2 Online, but you still have to pay (do a real money exchange).

From all the titles I own on Steam, seeing the lowest price the average discount is ~70% particular to my library. I believe you can wait a year or two, allow today's new titles to mature with patching or otherwise. Just shows how much you can save with subscriptions, and it will only get better once cloud gaming is the norm.

The thing is, there needs to be early adopters otherwise titles won't mature. You need public participation even when a release is still in a development state. Regional pricing helps a lot because we simply don't have the purchasing power at our disposal as some other countries have. This all will change with cloud maturity and its adoption. It will however remove ownership, and the consumer will always be exposed to possible disputes which may arise.

No it certainly has not.

I use Game Pass and buy the very odd game I need to outside of that when on special.

Thanks for the info ..the special is still on for a couple of days so will look into that and see if its worth the extra bucks.

Just as the SABC TV license is an entertainment tax by another name.

Tax is involuntary and you have no choice in the matter.

I fail to see the point you are trying to make.

By your logic any entertainment with a cost is then a tax.

You are merely not looking far enough into the future.

If everyone starts shifting to monthly subscriptions perpetual licensees disappear. The subscription will become a tax.

You can choose not to use a service at any time.

You can’t quickly sell the product you bought outright to stop what you’ve already paid when you are going on an extended holiday.

It’s also cheaper as a whole so where’s the problem exactly?

Bring on the tax then.

If you have no problem with a new tax..... are you fine with game quality becoming the same as public broadcaster quality?

That’s not going to happen mate, because again this is voluntary and not forced on anyone so the quality needs to remain.

As someone who has been on Game Pass since the very start the quality has been going up with time, not down.

Developers have bigger budgets than even and no gambles on whether something will work in the market or not, so we see a lot more creativity happening.

If a game subscription becomes the only option calling it voluntary becomes a farce.

That's because they were competing with perpetual licensing.... once the competitor disappears and they have a captive market the quality will go down. Remember, competition is a sin.

The problem comes from the companies you subscribe to that will compete with each other to get games.... creating a situation where devs don't need to focus on quality as much as quantity.
