R150 gives you 2+1 gb and R150 airtime, correct?

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been discussed before. So if I load R150 airtime using a prepaid sim, I'll get R150 airtime free = R300 in total, and then I convert the original R150 into the 2+1 gb promo (at R149), I'll effectively have R150 free airtime remaining (+ R1 from the original airtime) to any network, which lasts 7 days only?

Is the above true? Thank you.

Last time I bought R150 airtime. The bundle costs R149. Was left with R1.

I don't think the 2+1 data bundle is available on the 8ta more tariff.

From the telkom mobile webpage:
"FAQ 7. Will existing pre-paid subscribers have access to the pre-paid Once-Off Internet 2GB promo bundle? Existing Pre-paid subscribers with Pre-paid per minute, Pre-paid per second and 8ta more SIM cards will have access to purchase the 2GB + 1GB Internet from the 20th March 2013. The 2GB + 1GB Internet bundle is only available on Telkom Mobile network." But are you getting free airtime when you recharge, just prior to buying the data?

Last time I bought R150 airtime. The bundle costs R149. Was left with R1.

Gosh darn, so you didn't get the free airtime when you recharged... am I missing something?
Kind sir, did you join 8ta more plan after 30 March 2013?

Thank you, I read that the call rate is R1.90 per minute ... absolute madness.

http://www.telkommobile.co.za/plans/2gbpromo/ states that the new 8ta more plan does accomodate the 2+1gb promo, but as "slab" has mentioned, he didn't get free airtime when recharging before buying the 3gb promo... the jury is still out?

Someone had been fired for this promo. Still valid for existing users, but once you change tariff, there is no way to go back.

8ta rep?

I went to 8ta last year and got 2 sim cards - one was for a 3G stick and the other for my phone.

When I buy airtime and convert it to the 2+1GB data special for my sim card on my 3G stick, I get no airtime at all.

However, on my phone, when I buy the airtime and convert it to the data bundle, I still get the free airtime.

This is what I was hoping for! Many thanks brethren. 7 day expiry of airtime is crazy though!

@sajunky How come do you know so much ? I remember this deal was for the 1st million subscribers to join 8ta family, but also do remember once they converted your line to Telkom Mobile only(no roaming on mtn allowed) you would automatically be converted to that page as well.

I also remember the day when you could use free airtime/double value for every time you recharged you could use this airtime to purchase data bundles example go big 60gig package. Example loaded R900 airtime you would receive R900 complimentary airtime and use as you pleased. Lots of bugs when 8ta came out like buying bundles if your account didn't have the full value example R150 for a recharge but R140, automatically they would accept the R140 for the bundle.

Talking about packages etc I am not sure if 8ta more is still out there cause I have noticed a lot of new VAS(value-added service) unlimited bundles etc, whereby you pay subscription fee ranging from R30 - R150(unlimited calls to Telkom landline/Telkom mobile or both.

On MyBB. There was lot of abuse, as people on company phone lines used to recharge their own accounts by talking to family members. Phone bills increased rapidly, caused outrage in the industry and Telkom decided to not upset corporate customers. News on MyBB reported of firing 8ta marketting manager and that was end of the story.

As far as I know the 8ta more prepaid plan is now default for every 1.

The free airtime you get is with the recharge. What you do with the recharged airtime is up to you. You won't lose the 8ta more benifit when buying the data bundle......

Yeah airtime expires in 7 days though. Pitty its so short cause it could have been SOOOOOO much MORE nicer....

I don't want to go through that again - loaded R1800 airtime wanted to take full advantage of the R1800 free airtime damn it isn't easy using R1800 airtime.

Aren't you limited to R1000 free airtime per day when loading airtime? So loading R1800 gives you R1000 free max...
