R26.00 for one-ply toilet rolls which cost R3.99 - How Eskom's suspended procurement boss failed to curb spending

Eskom's suspended chief procurement officer Solly Tshitangano's failure to curb excessive spending led to the utility paying R26 per single one-ply toilet paper roll and R51 per black refuse bag.

These are some of the claims made in a 53-page affidavit submitted by Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA).

Eskom suspended Tshitangano in February over non-performance in procurement savings. Tshitangano hit back, accusing De Ruyter of impropriety and racism in employee appointments and awarding supplier contracts.

Comparing to checkers price as well, get it straight from the manufacturer and it will be more than half of checkers price.

Chief Procurement Officer. What a useless ****. He's supposed to save ESKOM money by procuring goods at the best possible price.

And he eventually gets busted and cries racialism.................

Of course. An honest white man is to blame. The guy that ****ed up his thievery for him and his connected ANC cadres.

De Ruyter is CEO. It's his job to get rid of thieving cunts like Tshitangano.

Considering how transparent Tshitangano's claims are the fact that this actually turned into a probe is the most frustrating part about this whole thing.

Depends on what they do with the outcome. False accusations of racism to damage someone's reputation can have some decent repercussions so if the finding is that he did it maliciously it could get him in some more hot water. I doubt they'll take it further though.

That's also possibly why all the suitable black qualified guy's didn't want to be ESKOM CEO. They knew they would have the unenviable task of getting rid of their own black people. Not good for future career prospects.

So whitey got the job of cleaning out the trash. De Ruyter is no fool. He new this when he took the job.

I was in between  , and  in the OP of this thread.

This is on the failure of the ANC, pure and simple. It is on their watch that this SOE has been fleeced, milked and defrauded. Ineptitude in the extreme. The sooner they "step aside", as they like to say, the better for the country.

The real crime here is the one-ply toilet paper.

Reminds me of the time I bought company toilet paper and went this cost effective way.. this was back when I was single and was what I used.

Got a lot of complaints about sandpaper I bought.. hahaha.

75%...

Corruption happens, but 75% is a number I have never even heard of in textbooks.
