Riot relief package price tag of R38.9 billion for South Africa

South Africa’s Treasury expects a relief package for businesses and individuals affected by this month’s deadly riots to cost 38.9 billion rand ($2.6 billion).

The government will spend an additional 31.2 billion rand and grant 5 billion rand in tax breaks, while 2.65 billion rand will be reallocated from within the budget, Edgar Sishi, the acting head of the budget office, said in an online briefing on Wednesday. The program won’t require additional borrowing, Treasury Director-General Dondo Mogajane said at the briefing.

Where does all this money keep coming from?
I honestly thought Jacob Zuma and Guptas had stolen everything 3 years ago

Every week we see billions more just popping outta no where

FK that, the ANC need to pay for the damage out of their own pockets not the tax payer.

The ANC allowed the riots to happen for multiple days and refused to put a stop to it after the first outbreak.

Just so convenient that you can operate essentially in support of the riots and when the tab comes the tax payer have to bail the ANC out.

Government sits back and does not stop the riots.
Government uses tax payers money to repair the damage that they caused.
Government providing for the cadres via tenders....

edit: CR did promise a specatular 2021 for BEE. And he is providing it.

Just saw this now. WTF. Picture this:

Sipho opened a bottle store in Durban 1 day before the looting started. Sipho invested and paid for 2 million in booze. Sipho lost all the booze when his shack was burned to the ground and the booze stolen.

All Sipho needs is a contact high enough and corrupt enough in the ANC to authorise his claim. Sipho goes from poor to rich overnight. And Sipho doesn't even play Powerball.
