So the flights aren't so cheap after all anyway, we're paying for them, whether we use them or not!

Flying on the Cheap

Flying on the Cheap

If anyone watched Carte Blanche a few weeks ago they interviewed Gidon Novick: CEO, Comair/Kululu.com.

Gidon: “Well, I have got to tell you it’s very frustrating - we’re a big taxpayer; we pay company tax; the people who work here pay tax; we pay VAT. And we did a little calculation that we actually pay R250-million worth of taxes every year.”

Kulula is concerned that its taxes could be used against it…

Gidon: “Now what we see is that that money - a hundred million of that money - is going to be put into an airline that’s going to compete with us.”

'Normal' taxpayers don't fly nearly often enough to justify tax going into this.

Agreed.
The last time I was on a plane was back in 2002 and it was Singapore Airlines.

Vodacom are having a huge special with 100 000 free flights to give away.

Rather just phone Vodacom instead of sending your ID number back. That's not very professional.

How about using the money for those 100,000 flights to lower call rates and then they will see some added customers/revenue! But that wouldn't be good business I guess. Helping the customer with what they actually use of your service that is.
