Capitec does look good, I have been playing around with their online calculator and hmm nice. interest is good. I will go through terms and conditions and take the first step.

Splitting the money on such small amounts is not a good idea. If you want a guaranteed investment just put all of it in one account with the highest interest since the more money you invest the more the interest rates are.

And if you are a bit more adventurous go for bitcoins and after the budget speech or when Zuma replaces Gordan your bitcoins which are linked to the dollar will be good to you...

Or China (Or insert other random country) blocks bitcoins again, and the value plummets and he loses his money...

Bitcoin is a bad idea for a primary investment, I'd only go that route if you already have more stable investments elsewhere.

It can be very volatile.

Honestly, at this point the interest rate doesn't help all that much.

11 months saving at 0% interest with a final value of R50000 means you need to save R4545.45 per month
11 months saving at 12% interest with a final value of R50000 means you need to save R4322.70 per month

1 year is too short a time frame to rely on compounding for growth.
