R544 million E-tolls unpaid

Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said she is told that just under R544-million in unpaid E-tolls has been transferred to Sanral's violations processing centre.

Now for the fireworks to start if they have the balls to come after non offenders.
I can't see this working
- They can't go to the courts as the courts will get clogged.
- They could sell their debt book but I don't think it will be worth much
- Blacklisting and bad credit record? Not sure if this applies if you never signed anything and already 10 million people have bad credit records

The guys with e-tags who have outstanding payments did sign in theory...

They have a better case against them and it will be really ironic if this VPS goes after etag users first since their amounts are capped so would owe much less compared to the biggest non etag road users

lmao.. spent rounded ZAR 55 million to tell people they owe rounded ZAR 544 million and incoming revenue is ZAR 50 million as a result is kinda hilarious. So how much/what was the revenue outside of VPC? sounds like they going under fast :p

Let's do a bit of math here. Conservatively, R300 bill over 3 months, means that about 600 000 people are not paying. If I knew a few of the outstanding balances, a normal distribution could be applied and we can start looking at what is really going on.

what about people receiving bills for cars they don't own.. wonder how that will stand up in court etc.

Or people not getting any form of bill, invoice, SMS. Went through ± 3 or 5 gantries back in December and still nothing. Address and other details on ENATIS is up to date as I received my licence renewal and such, yet nothing from SANRAL until now.

My boss does the pta/Sandton run almost daily and he's yet to receive something as well.
