Perhaps you should take the blinkers off and realise even the US program doesn't work and that's the minority, it's also not mandatory, they still can hire the best person for the job regardless.
. Now throw it in a country where they are trying to squeeze ten into one job.
Where the biggest employer is the government, where every company has to do it with threats of fines and being ostracized. It's almost as if it's a law to punish a certain race not actually improve the lives of the ones they are supposed.
Yup - fully agree with you.
Get the best person for the job - the colour of the person's skin and their gender should not be a factor.

Only if you view race as something important.

If I had said:

You wouldn't have had the response you did. You instinctively thought I had made a connection between the tenant's "race" and them being a bad tenant.

1. Thread is about race
2. You brought up race when mentioning tenants
3. In your examples, you left out the morals. Bringing up an unrelated quality to describe a person with a point makes it seem you are trying to make a point. You didn't bring up age, class or nationality.

Anyway, I said you worded it badly, that is all, you are welcome to disagree

I thought we were talking minority/majority not whether AA works here or there. It doesn't work here or there for various reasons but that wasn't the discussion. You seem determined to refuse to see the point.

You are not willing to admit the difference because then your entire racist-endorsing argument falls flat...
There are no differences (none in the essence anyway). If you think there are, why don't you state them here for us to see.

Cape Town resident/landlord being racist.. uhm yah what’s new?

Seriously, this only new for those living in denial but it’s not a majority though.. but yah. What’s new?

I’ve seen people being so racist & dumb that they’d rather be handled by an idiot inexperienced newb medical specialist vs an experienced battle ready one just because as they said, the shade isn’t to their liking. apparently it was the worse experience they ever had for the specialist procedure but hey.. at least it was someone they preferred haha.

The estate agent furthermore defended the move, saying it was not illegal for a landlord to choose their tenants.

Rather disingenuous, estate agent lady.

It's not illegal for them to choose their tenants based on their ability to pay the rent, their credit record, etc - but you know very well it's illegal to make the decision based purely on their race. The moment the landlord stated that requirement, you should have let them know that was illegal. But you didn't.

He said the company had, since its inception, been recognised as a market leader dealing with a diverse clientele, maintaining a high level of professionalism and adhering to a code of ethics.

If that is the case, then you have an estate agent to fire.

There are many ways to decline a tenant

One sure-fire way is for me to be told that they are Christian non-smokers

I had two lots of these, one stopped paying the rent as she said the Lord would provide but neglected to give me his email address. The other was a slovenly old bag and used to pour all her dirt into the drain, such that a plumber had to rod it out twice a year. She threw everything in there - chicken bones, plastic bags, old bread which would swell up, vegetable peelings. She said she was too tired to use the wheelie-bin as it detracted from her bible-study (accompanied by a bottle of brandy)

My best tenants by far are a couple from the DRC

The ones I prefer are young married couples where the mother-in-law visits to "keep an eye on things". Floor so clean you could eat off it

I have experienced this far too many times to be able to remember how many. Apparently no-one has a problem saying that the prospective employer has race criteria.
Don't worry it's for the greater good, too give the majority a chance to balance out. It'll be over in another 27 years
