Equal pay for women cricketers is as ridiculous as equal pay for tennis players. They struggle to fill the seats and viewership doesn't come close to the men's game. Equal popularity = equal pay. Not gender.

Only 4 of those 10 make any sense:

  • Overhauling school cricket and talent pathways

  • A national T20 competition for state school teams

  • Cricket's class barriers

  • An open and transparent complaints policy

The equal pay argument was popularized by the US women's soccer team. In their case, they are actually way more successful than their men counterparts and also generated more money when the stats were broken down (soccer is the no 1 sport among women in the USA and maybe 4th or 5th among men) and when you look at the background of the good USA men's players, they are often the offspring of recent generation migrants from Europe, Africa, Mexico or South America.

I agree with you that it's simply not feasible now in most countries apart from the USA and maybe England etc but their argument also is that women's sport does not get as much exposure which is a valid argument. So maybe we can start by giving them more exposure. Due to Banyana Banyana's successes over recent years like qualifying for World Cups and winning WAFCON, more women in SA will play sport. The SA women's team is actually very decent by world standards when you consider how little they have to work with.

I see the ICC has made price money at wc's the same for women & men:

ICC announces equal prize money for men's and women's World Cups

Yeah, probably not really sustainable. It would have been better for them to boost marketing of women's sports and then gradually increase salaries.

As much as a lot of people have issues with WWE, its been successful in this than most sports. The womens matches are worth watching and I understand how many of the women wrestlers would easily command more than their male counterparts.
