Curious.

If South Africa is such a wonderful place to live, then why are black South Africans moving to Australia, even in the face of being forced to deal with these racist Australian officials?

Pauline Hanson, Australia's controversial rightwing politician, has asked the government of Prime Minister John Howard to tighten immigration laws to bar "diseased Africans" in general and "black South Africans" in particular from entering the country.

Hanson appeared to be attempting yet another comeback into politics after being convicted of electoral fraud by the electoral commission of the state of Queensland more than two years ago.
An out of work politician trying to get back into the limelight.

Oh wait -
She attacked Muslims for failing to assimilate in Australian society and to learn English.
Muslims too.

The only thing "official" about Pauline Hanson is her criminal record.

Everything she says is true from that article, I see the liberals have chimed in this thread, yet they never refute anything. Oh well, Australia can become a right wing example, let the non-westerners flood into it and watch it collapse into utter ruins.

Are blacks who leave South Africa considered "chicken runners" or is that term just reserved for whites?

The last kicks of a dying horse!

Please check your facts mate. How many black people emigrated from South Africa in the last five years? The number is probably so insignificant that no-one can take a racist like Pauline Hanson seriously. She has somehow cottoned onto the fear of Aids to get votes in Australia which over the last decade has become quite hostile to non-Anglo immigrants.

What I meant to ask was if South Africans in South Africa consider any person who left SA a "runner" whether they are black or white.

Is anyone who leaves SA a "chicken runner"?

Where does the "chicken runners" factor into a racist tirade by an attention seeking Australian politician?

BTW the only people leaving SA in large numbers are whites, black people have never called them chicken runners- a title coined by the white "liberal" media.

Yeah, the small number unfortunately feature quite prominent members of the society, I am sure black professionals and even ex politicians with money and power. Also why is it that black leaders send their kids overseas to study, most of the time they will not be prepared to return.

The official statistics on emigration from South Africa do not provide a breakdown for the different ethnic groups in South Africa, but a recent survey indicates that white professionals are only slightly more likely to consider emigrating than are black professionals.

Emigration trends
The number of people choosing to live in South Africa, is balanced, in some respects, by the numbers choosing to emigrate from South Africa. Emigration data from 1970 to 2002 show three major peaks: in 1977, 1986 and 1994.

During these peak years, the leading destination country for self-declared emigrants was the UK. In the post-1994 period, the trend in self-declared emigration from South Africa to other countries has been gradual. In 2002 the number of emigrants turned out to be 11.2% lower than that of 2001, decreasing from 12 260 in 2001 to 10 890 in 2002.

While reasons for emigration are varied, and unique to individuals, many choose to settle in more developed countries in Europe or North America, where the earning potential for skilled labour tends to be higher.

The exodus of skills from the country – described as a 'brain drain' - has caused concern for some. Emigrants include IT professionals, doctors and dentists, scientists, nurses and teachers. For example, almost 17 000 science and technology professions (about 1% of the total science and technology workforce), left the country between 1994 and 2001.

Many poorly paid teachers and nurses, as well as emergency staff, such as firemen, have sought more lucrative positions in their professions overseas.

The downfall of the 'brain drain' is a shortage of skilled labour at home. A recent report suggests that the country does not have enough engineers to fulfil its infrastructure development ambitions over the coming years.

Yet the skills shortfalls are opportunities for some – providing business and work opportunities for a fresh wave of immigrants, and focusing skills development initiatives, as well as guiding tertiary education decisions at home

Stats 2006 pdf are here which show peaks in 1994 and then a decline and since 2000 a mayor spike in emigration. I wonder why?

@NewsFlash: What are trying to say? That black professionals are leaving South Africa in the millions for greener pastures in racist Australia? No mate, the ones that do go over usually go on contract, they never plan on staying permanently. I've got an aunt who's a psychiatrist in some Scottish backwater where everyone is on drugs and they've got crazy problems with the youth. She's only doing it to pay off her bond and get her kids through varsity...after that she's coming back.

Lets remain on topic: How many black people actually emigrated to Oz? Most who find themselves there are probably students.

I find it strange that you can see so much in a post. You must be a wizard or something (maybe a ..) Who claimed anything about millions going to Australia. Wake up mate! Stop making your own assumptions!
Why would they go there anyway, also another racist society as you conveniently claim, just because they are a white majority? They are less racist ATM than South Africa and that's a fact. No racist laws exist there as currently is in place here. So what is your point? If they do not want them then maybe its for a good reason? Black Africans rather tend to go to Europe, UK in particular. Read the stats for information if you can. Most people leaving are not students but professionals! The country had a yearly loss of professionals since 2000 and as seems the case there is little difference in numbers between black and whites leaving. But the statistics are not showing this, maybe deliberate for some strange reason?
So your "Aunt" speaks for all and sundry, How pathetic. I have a brother in law that emigrated. Left because of crime and could not stand the new ZAR reverse racism and incompetence, now that will make him a traitor, chicken runner and racist in your eyes, Not?

w1z4rd is a great contributor and a bastion in the fight for better telecoms in SA.

Hope he can do the same for a better South Africa that incorporates all its citizens and not this current racist classifications that is made law exactly like the old regime did. I have nothing against him but for the fact that he finds posts he read so thoroughly lame and or abusive!

Whoa kid. Perhaps you should find a different online activist outlet to go and lament your frustrating demise.

Yes, my aunt speaks for most black profesionals who find themselves over in the UK. I can't see how any black South African would want to live there permanently. Good luick to your brother-in-law and his little piece of paradise- wherever that is. Soon he'll probably HAVE to deal with the same issues he left behind in South Africa as more and more people find refuge in First World countries.

So is she the leader or spokeswoman for all black expats in UK or is it a fictitious believe in your mind. Does she have a web site where I can see her representation or contribution in the UK? Give some facts to support you claim.
You really live in your own deluded African dream world. Eyes and mind closed up with donkey or horse blinds, maybe even brainwashed with horse dung.
