One of our EE canditates (black male) moved to Toronto at the beginning of the year to get away from his debt in south africa. He was back within four months because for the first time in his working career he was treated equally and actually had to pull his own weight. Couldn't stop laughing when I heard it yesterday :)

Lol :D

Please check your facts mate. How many black people emigrated from South Africa in the last five years? The number is probably so insignificant that no-one can take a racist like Pauline Hanson seriously. She has somehow cottoned onto the fear of Aids to get votes in Australia which over the last decade has become quite hostile to non-Anglo immigrants.

I love you Brixton Tower! East West Home is Best! And that's true for an African as well ... London, Paris, New York and even Brisbane can have all the goodies ... But a dark skinned, curly haired fat lipped African will never truly feel at home here! Africa is home!

I find it strange that you can see so much in a post. You must be a wizard or something (maybe a ..) Who claimed anything about millions going to Australia. Wake up mate! Stop making your own assumptions!
Why would they go there anyway, also another racist society as you conveniently claim, just because they are a white majority? They are less racist ATM than South Africa and that's a fact. No racist laws exist there as currently is in place here. So what is your point? If they do not want them then maybe its for a good reason? Black Africans rather tend to go to Europe, UK in particular. Read the stats for information if you can. Most people leaving are not students but professionals! The country had a yearly loss of professionals since 2000 and as seems the case there is little difference in numbers between black and whites leaving. But the statistics are not showing this, maybe deliberate for some strange reason?
So your "Aunt" speaks for all and sundry, How pathetic. I have a brother in law that emigrated. Left because of crime and could not stand the new ZAR reverse racism and incompetence, now that will make him a traitor, chicken runner and racist in your eyes, Not?

Ahh! Newsflash! I guess the good thing about you is you never ran ... You might be contemplating that, but due to one reason or another you never ran. Good for you! Now, let's get back to the real issue here ... I take it you are old enough to know what kind of horrors where uleashed onto the Black South Africans during the apartheid era. How do you suggest we correct those wrongs? Bear in mind the bad education that twisted our minds, bear in mind that we have been deliberately kept at a level were it's a state of from hand to mouth kind of living. How do you suggest we correct that.

And bear in Mind that today: 13 December 2006. Most of the Corporates are still led by White Males, earning millions of rands ... they are the ones that fire and hire.

If this country was so **** bad for the africans answer these two questions:

1. Why are africans in South African on average much better off than africans in the rest of the continent?
2. Why are all africans from the rest of Africa trying to move here?

Tibby dude.

Try not to be overly negative. Insights from Canada can go a long way in helping South Africans.

For example, Canada was one of the leading nations in the fight against apartheid and in leading the sanctions that crumbled the Nats.

I suppose that insight into fighting apartheid was not good for you then either, was it?

As for the good life, life is good wherever you live provided you have the right attitude. It's just different here. Skating or skiing or skidooing is good here too and lots of fun.
I have a nagging feeling that the guys here don't want to debate. They see immediately you are dissing 'their' country - hence the often kneejerk personal attacks from even the 'thinkers'. This is also a characteristic of Africa, where the logic is not always the same as in the West.

I don't debate with idiots and their racist agenda's who imply that S.A is somehow worse off under black majority rule and that Apartheid rule was good.

Who said Apartheid was good? Since when does criticising the present mean endorsing the past?

Guys, please calm down. These racist attacks on one another are not on. I do not like to get in on the race debate as people often get far too emotional and start saying stupid things without thinking. I have read some ridiculous comments from some of you. You claim to be educated yet your opinions are often close minded and anything but intelligent.

Let me just point out a few things:

1) Affirmative action is definitely not reverse racism and cannot be compared to apartheid. While I am not a fan of AA, I understand and accept the need for it. Anybody who thinks that AA is like apartheid has some serious issues. Ask yourself: Are there places in SA that you cannot go because you are white. Are you thrown in jail and beaten when you speak out against AA. Are you forced to sit at the back of the bus because you are "white". Please think before making ridiculous statements.

2) Any expat that left SA when apartheid was abolished, has absolutely no say on anything that goes on here. I personally have no respect for any person that came to SA to benefit from apartheid and then left when apartheid was abolished and claims he left because of crime. In this case, it definitely is good riddance to bad rubbish. You people want to generalize too often. Not all expats are racists but a huge majority are.

Please stop playing the race card. It is not "white" vs "non-white". Lets debate and respect others opinion even if it doesnt agree with yours. Rather than asking a person what he is drinking or smoking, point out why you disagree and give examples. You will find that the person may even take note of your opinions then.

Please be considerate to others
