Well how else does one get those retards with the right to vote (most of them probably not property owners) to vote for a better party except by having it fail so bad even they change their minds?

How will this affect them more than us?

They live in shacks, do you think by us all living in shacks it will somehow fix things?

No, just that they will live in their shacks with no power (no electricity to steal) and we in self powered houses, thanks to their chosen leaders driving us there with expensive and unpredictable power.

And water? What about that?

The answer to Eskom's problems is actually simple. Expand business to the off-the-grid industry.

That's an interesting point. Unfortunately a lot of the off-grid industry is a bunch of cowboys doing unregulated things without any concept of safety and seriously over-promising buyers. I'm not sure even Eskom would stoop as low as to compete with them.

I have heard 5 different solar-PV providers this month tell me that Eskom let's you feed back into the grid. They do not. There's a white paper out to discuss the potential... but nothing formal yet. If Eskom see you feeding back into the grid, they will disconnect you.

Certain municipalities DO let you feed-back or wheel to someone else, but you need to meet a very detailed specification and get a meter change to record your usage. These salesmen tend not to realise this and instead keep telling people about their huge savings -- the fact most of them can't even work out what the return is properly (FYI - a 20 year payback is NOT a 5% return!). Anyone pitching these kind of long-term financial investments really should at least understand finance...

In the current climate big companies will never be able to maintain status quo. Instead of the 'woe is me' attitude, reshaping and redefining their business is the only thing that will save them. Unfortunately we are still entrenched in the outdated ways of business thinking.

_If_ you apply for SSEG (small scale electricity generation) you can supply to the grid via a Municipality.
Different Muni's have different rules and pricing, and there are a lot of caveats. Mostly its geared toward the Muni's not wanting Solar, vs encouraging it.

It is not illegal to feed back into the grid if you have done the SSEG application, and have subsequently been approved as a generator.

NERSA is supposed to come out with actual legislation regarding in May. I'm not holding my breath on that though.

I will 100% agree though that most of the solar installers are full of *** about this.
