Radioactive gas levels in South African homes require urgent attention

The National Nuclear Regulator has warned that South Africa must urgently start to monitor the levels of radioactive radon gas in local homes to protect its citizens.

Radon is a radioactive gas that forms naturally when uranium, thorium, or radium – which are radioactive metals – break down in rocks, soil, and groundwater.

Interesting, was just reading about this the other day and how it is part of the property purchases in US and EU.

A mitigating factor though is that our homes are well ventilated. More of an issue if you never open your windows/airon all day and have insulated your house like in Europe/US.

There are home testing kits, but I'm not sure to whom one can send the results like in the US?
