Not really. We live on old Gold mine dumps. There a Uranium mine 20Km from my house. I work with heavily radio active instruments. It is the norm. No one is safe.

We just continue day to day without worries.

The issue is radon that accumulates indoors - that is something that one can do something about. As previously mentioned in this thread, radon extractors are used in some homes and buildings in the US.

The public's own worst enemy is themselves. That's why quick fast reaction is needed. Not "Oh, we have not appointed a commission of inquiry .. will be done next year ...", with people not knowing if they're being fried from the inside, or being taken for a ride by an air filter salesman.
