Rain 5G great, but it is the reason Rain LTE is now slow!

Stupidity like this is what makes network operators not give a damn about upgrading their networks. People just accept mediocrity from South African ISPs and are happy to pay premium for it so they don't have incentive to upgrade their networks?

Many of you don't have 5G in your areas yet so keep laughing. But just hope you get to upgrade to 5G before this affects you too.
No there's only so much upgrading you can do without proper spectrum. Everyone knew it will go downhill in time if nothing is done but please pray tell which other network offers what Rain is offering. Yet overall they're not far behind Vodacom. You're just one person in the wrong place with problems and now you're blaming Rain for launching 5G. It's actually the other way 'round. If they didn't it would get a lot worse over time. It's gotten to the point where it's worse than it was and now ironically when they're launching 5G to try curb this you're blaming it on that.

It's not cause and effect you have here. It's like blaming LTE for the slow speeds on hspa when the simple truth is that hspa has become saturated. To put it more simply so you can understand it it's like blaming the medication the doctor gave you for your symptoms when it's really the symptoms that caused you to go to the doctor. So if you're not happy with something that's naturally limited take your money and leave.

You really just say a lot of nothing in your posts, you just want to comment and nothing you say is useful.

Are you rewarded for your posts?

I have been using rain for 18 months and never have I had such a horrid connection where there is absolutely no data coming in. Congestion means slow speeds. Not nothing at all clearly settings on the tower have been changed. The tower has clearly been repurposed for 5g. My device no longer connects to the tower at all their systems can't even pick it up. So rain has been better but it's only downhill from here

I also figured that there is a "Rain" tower about 300 meters from my place, it used to give me 40-50Mbps and now it does not do even 1kb when connected to it. I have to move my device so it can connect to one that is 1Km away from my place and i have been receiving 20Mbps max from it.

Good news might be that my area might get 5G quicker bad news is i have to endure horrible lte experience until then.

South African ISPs don't seem to understand that the data cap does not matter these days, its the speed that matters since we stream and work online. We need speed more than gigs they give us.

Don't know, Rain's "5G" doesn't sound all that fast to me compared to existing Vodacom LTE.

Surely you smoke something really bad. What is the highest speed you have got from Vodacom LTE since its roaming on Rain LTE these days?

I get 90mbps from Vodacom LTE. If I was closer the tower it would be more. 4/5 Bars.

NO! It is upto 700Mbps with real world speeds around upto 300Mbps. :)

Yes according to their marketing department. I received mine today, had it for about 3hrs, then cancelled. Real world speeds ~ 70Mbps (I'm in Petervale, Sandton area), and upload speeds almost non existent.

I think you should have given it more time and find different spots where you can get better connection speeds to speedtest.net

I think they are starting from the furthest locations to see their 5G range so that they can do the coverage map correctly. Did they mention how far you are from the 5G tower?

I tested a friend's 5g at my house last night, I'm not even in the coverage area and my speed test got 617mbps rofl. Needless to say I am joining today. Even if I have to give a fake address, I will get this damn insane service asap.
