Wow, is all I can say. Moer of an install, it feels like I have an Exchange set up at my house (in addition, I have two different access points connected with ethernet too). The outdoor unit is on top of a 6m pole next to my house.

Nicest, most helpful people.

This is my speedtest after they left :) This is over WiFi with 16 Devices connected to the network:

ISP: rain
Ping: 20ms
Download: 307.12Mbps
Upload: 32Mbps
Test your speed: http://speedtest.co.za

We got to 430Mbps when nothing else was connected to WiFi

I look like my avatar in real life at the moment!
Can I see your before(if possible) and after stats please :)

OH wicked dude nice welcome to the 5g club your upload speed is also very good.

Post some pics.
Did they take the indoor unit back?

Lol, thanks! Yeah, even with the wet weather, it never goes below 250Mbps.

Yes, they took the indoor unit back, the ODU comes with it's own new IDU.

Received my Rain 5G package on Monday.

I played around with it on Tuesday (not getting great signal) and mounted it on the roof last night.

There were thick trees in the way as far as I could see and I am +- 750 metres away from the tower.

After a couple of "optimiser" tests in different locations on the roof - I mounted it below my current Wifi dish.

Signal degraded a bit through the night, will test again this evening. (Would still be happy with 150mbps+)

Looks like I am one of the lucky ones in this area?

I'm in PTA East, got my 5G on Tuesday. It is super dependent on the signal quality. 5G is very fragile, but if your signal quality is good the speeds and latency are amazing. I achieved up to 320Mb/s.
Hi. I am in Pretoria East as well and considering Rain 5G. I am in Equestria though, which is on the edge of the coverage area. Has your signal stabilised? How has it been over these last few days with the thunderstorms?

Eufees Voortrekker Skool

Really, is than one 5G Enabled? Because that is perhaps 300m from my house (almost LoS) and my speed is about 220-280...

There is an MTN sticker on that tower at Voortrekker Eufees, does rain use MTN's network?

Just did another test today 14/01/2020 @ 18H30

We have seen a bit of a decline, considering going on the roof again to play around ...

But where else will you get speeds of +- 150mbps @ R1k ?

Have to say - more tan happy with 150!

I stream Netflix @ 4k + 4 other devices on HD - no buffering, no problems!

Need to mention again - Lots of high trees between me and the tower!

Pm Me your address I can let you know the status of the tower and those around you, we’ll actually send me your email by pm as you can’t attach photos in a pm when I reply

Signal does vary, it can be fine for a couple of days and then drop. I had 3 days where I had poor signal and then it corrected itself. Rain and Clouds don't really affect signal quality, but lighting definitely messes with it. If you're a gamer it's decent, not great but stable. For streaming it's really good, no issues here.

Just one thing to note is that I've had issues with connection. 1 to 2 times a week I'll completely drop connection for anywhere between 20 and 90 minutes. I've had more downtime in the few months I've had Rain than I ever had with my ADSL.

Have been having same issue recently. Took no notice of it late last year. But for the last two weeks becoming more and more noticeable. Yesterday was horrendous as pointed out on another topic. From having a 400dl/20up at its peak to 2dl/6up (not a typo). Did test this morning at 04:30 and there was no change.

On the 15/01 I was back briefly into the 200's which gave me hope but was false alarm. Have reached out to RAIN again and they have responded thankfully.

Thanks for the response. I just ordered .. should be getting my CPE on Monday. As long as it's better than my 10mb ADSL line I will be happy..

Will post my speedtest results, once I am up and running.

Hi all.. Sorry to hijack a Pretoria North thread with Pretoria East discussion, but I got my CPE this morning.

plugged in.. placed it on top of a dresser in my room. Constant yellow flashing the entire time. Occasionally goes green for a few secs.. but not long enough to do any sort of test or do the activation.

Luckily I still have my adsl for another month.. so hopefully i can get this sorted out in that time.

Edit: Oops.. my bad.. guess I have to wait for the sim to be rica'd .. lol

Sim rica'd and activated. Will still move it around a bit to find optimal location.
Not great relative to other Rain 5g speeds reported.. but far better than my more expensive 10mb adsl (earliest test is my adsl connection)
