(08:45:53)Danette: i tried a different rain sim card and it is the same thing
(08:46:23)Danette: i put the sim card and other rain sim cards in three different phones and they do the sam thing even in the router
(08:46:32)Danette: so it is definitly not my phone nor the router
(08:47:02)Danette: why cant u fix this issue. I have not been able to use the internet i paid for in a while and the best u guys can do is restart your router or reset your router

(08:53:04)Muriel Mano: please let me know once the sim card is in the phone
(08:53:08)Muriel Mano: Please follow the below steps to set up APN for your Android device. 1. Go to settings, wireless & networks/More, Mobile network, Access Point Name (APN). 2. (08:53:32)Danette: restarting the phone now but not holding my breath
(08:54:05)Danette: This is clearly not my fault why cant yal see this. instead of trying to send me stuff that i have already done multiple times.
(08:54:08)Muriel Mano: also put the phone on flight mode on and off three tin=mes please
(08:54:08)Danette: phone is back on

(08:56:07)Danette: askking me to restart the phone and flight mode three times
(08:56:15)Danette: is that the best diagnostics that u guys have
(08:56:32)Muriel Mano: yes that helps the phone connect to the closest tower
(08:57:00)Danette: that does not help squart as i mentioned three phones are unable to connect at all to rain with various sim cards and even the router too
(08:57:01)Muriel Mano: we are just trouble shooting so we can get to the bottom of the issue and trying to resolve it
(08:57:17)Danette: and we have already established its not an issue on my end
(08:57:43)Muriel Mano: also the most important thin is to make sure that network mode is on 4G and wifi is off and mobile network is on
(08:58:13)Danette: my phones are always on 4g and mobile network is on and data is switched on. whats next? buy another phone now?
(08:59:47)*** Danette has rated the chat Bad ***
(08:59:47)*** Danette has commented: Bunch of useless people who do not want to fix things. No knowledge whatsoever. i do not even understand how they even got their jobs. They should all get fired. Waste of money. I want a refund. ***

After reading the above voice script I honestly think that the call center agents are limited to what they can and cannot fix. In Rain’s defense mobile network spectrum is limited and currently their main focus is their 5G network. If one has to lay blame it would be the prolonged procrastinations of government when it comes to handing out spectrum. I believe they will be launching 5G in kzn in the new year and I honestly know how you feel. I will spend money on a network that is willing to invest in their infrastructure. What you going through is exactly the nonsense I went through with Telkom. I have since cancelled their services and moved on. In the interim I think it’s best you move to a network that has coverage in your area. Rain is launching 5G aggressively and you most probably will be covered soon.

But that's the thing. I stay close to the towers and I used to get 4 solid bars of signal and around 60 mega download but now can barely get a signal bro. I like about several hundred meters from their towers only last week i was getting 4bar signal . My area definitly has great coverage dnt know what's going on. They trying to pin it to the loadshedding but i doubt

I am very pleased to have finally made the switch from Rain Fixed LTE to Afrihost Pure LTE. Speeds and stabililty seem much better than I was getting on Rain or Telkom. If things stay like this I doubt that I would consider using Rain again.

@ngoni615: I am currently on the 30+30GB Pure LTE package for R199 but I might upgrade to the 60+60GB package for R349. I just chose the cheapest package to evaluate the performance.

If I need to download large amounts of data I still have the 450GB nightsurfer bundle for R59pm on Mo'Nice on one of my Telkom SIMs. Telkom also has a 100GB nightsurfer option for R149.

If I have to be brutally honest, did you even look for coverage before signing up a full package ?
The better option would have been to get a test SIM first - if it still didndt work, you are no worse off than R1 for a SIM + Delivery !

He he, unfortunately I only have the one SIM with the nightsurfer package! I have been using the nightsurfer on that SIM every few months from when they first launched the product which might be why I still have it. I have not seen it listed under Mo'Nice on any of my newer SIMs. If you buy the regular nightsurfer bundle for R149 maybe you qualify for the cheaper deal on Mo'Nice after several months?

It is possible that your Rain service improves again after a few days or weeks. That did happen to me several times before. Recently it started getting worse and worse until I had had enough and I switched to the Pure LTE from MTN.

It might take a week for your SIM to arrive from Afrihost. I'm not sure whether they will be closing over the Christmas period so you may need to order the SIM card quite soon if you want it before Christmas.

dude i mentioned earlier that it started only this week. i had 4 bar signals and get 60mbps download earlier and then it started only this week. I actually live near the tower about 400 to 600 meters from the tower.

@ngoni615: I already had an account with Afrihost as I was paying for my Rain Fixed LTE service from them via Debit Order so I just cancelled the Rain service and ordered the new one.

It's very expensive to use prepaid Internet if your Rain service doesn't come back soon. I bought a 10+10GB LTE bundle from Telkom for R149 while I was waiting for my SIM from Afrihost and it cost nearly as much as the 30+30GB Pure LTE from Afrihost. Most of the Mo'Nice deals are also around R12~R16/GB. In hindsight I should have ordered the SIM earlier but I was waiting for the Black Friday Specials which turned out to be very poor!

No-one holding a gun to your head, just leave.
Being rude to people is a big no-no in my book. (We've had this conversation before IIRC ngoni615).
Also, I'd remove those screenshot links from your chat. The stuff people can piece together about you from there is...well, I'll let you find that out.
