Rain APN Settings affect speeds?

Im using Rain Mobile and Rain Fixed LTE (Afrihost).

Our Fixed LTE is decent with speeds of 10-20mbps in Glentana(near George) but my mobile speed is very poor (0.2-1mbps).

When I use rain as the apn on my phone speeds are very slow, but when i use internet as the apn the speeds almost increase 5 fold.

Can anyone provide me with a reason for this?
And the default apn is rain, so I don't know why it would be faster on internet apn.

The Fixed LTE also uses internet as the apn

Some ISP's do this because people don't configure their devices properly. So we had devices with wrong APN settings working, but inoperable because of the speed (about 50 of them). We were confused by this, as they were working, just not very well.

Next batch of devices were working perfectly, so we thought it was a hardware issue. We found out by trial and error that all APN settings work, but are throttled to death unless correct
