I think the dashboard is showing double the amount of data used. After yesterdays outage my dashboard jumped from 60GB used to 120GB. My Huawei router is also reporting 64GB used as of this morning. I'm on free data till the end of the next month.

You say you ordered this a few weeks ago.. You had 15 days for the free unlimited data during peak time and this 15 day period has already expired for you.. (I am still in this period and my expiration date for the period is shown on my dashboard)..

I suspect that you used the peak data after the 15 day period had already expired.. but this depends on when you ordered and when the sim was activated.. If you used the peak data after the expiration, then you are going to have to take the butthurt and pay back the money I am afraid..

thats correct, but when i ordered my sim i selected the minimum peak data which in this case was R50 and then the R250 off-peak unlimited data. After the free 15 days peak data i had no reason to have a look at my dashboard as the peak limit was already set prior activation.

Spend limit is not activated!

Damn

:crying:

I would recommend you check it everyday to make sure it stays on.

i selected the minimum peak data prior registration, so does this mean they shouldve set the limit of peak data to only R50 usage?

When i spoke to Sandile from Rain Support he told me my limit was set to a maximum of R10,000!!! wtf

Eish, that sounds like a bad position you're in.. I hope you have proof of setting the spend limit because they do send an email reminding you to do so after your 15 days free are up. Good luck!

It is a bad situation. In my case I was lucky , I saw that they didn't add the uncapped deal. I had email proof where they confirmed the R250 deal was added. After lots of fighting they said that I cancelled the deal at the exact same time I added it. Why would I do that ? I then just cancelled the sim and ordered a new one. I hope you get your problem sorted

OMFG, I've been waiting for this day since June 7!

Most people will get caught out with this "peak" period - which traditionally would be during the working, daytime period. Rain's going to make a killing with people who misinterpret this.

Netlfix in 1080p uses just over 3Gb per hour so if you get home at 6pm watch some series or movies until 11pm, that would be 15Gb which equals R750 per night. If you were doing this every night of the week that would total R3 750 for the week, or R15k per month.

Queue threads with title "Rain is defrauding me ", "Rain is the reason why I couldn't pay my rent and car instalment this month", "Rain is run by the Zuptas, they are stealing my money too!", no you retard, RTFM!

As for me, I'm getting this for using with my laptop at work during lunch or quiet periods, or for when I work from home..

OK, OP's situation looks a tad different in that he didn't misinterpret what they ment with "peak period". This seems more to be an error on their part...

Do you have a record of this? Written proof somewhere?

unfortunately not :( didnt thought abt it as i never knew this would happen. I explained Sandile from Rain Support yesterday how i ordered the sim etc and he confirmed that the system might not have picked up my peak data limit when i first ordered it. Now i just have to wait till i hear back from them...

I too was waiting to see what happens before I go uncapped again. I unfortunately miss it and will soon jump on the bandwagon. When my 15 days were up- which back then turned out to be the whole of june as well as half of july due to their issues and I even got refunded my initial 120 due to others having issues - i took my sim out and never used a lick of data. I also confirmed my spend limit was set to R50 just incase casper the friendly ghost decided to use my rain sim. I know this doesnt help OP that is in this situation but for the rest of us its a warning. Check your spend limit. My sim is not in use but i pop online (from rain fixed sim) and check my rain mobile dashboard just incase ... this is Africa at the end of the day, anything that can happen will happen.

your comment helps allot! thank you. Ive noticed that Rain has a reputation of having issues with their accounts as seen here and on other forums. My issue is just one of their hiccups.

This is what I did as well. Took sim out after my 15 free days.

Hope things turn out well for OP.

Really hoping things work out for the best here. Their current systems are clearly flawed and need some serious tweaking. Even if they determine this to be human error, they should still take at least some responsibility.

It's not fair that the customer be required to check every day just to make sure things stay as they were originally set.
