Good morning all,

Anyone else experiencing an issue with regards to no signal with rain after load shedding kicks in. There is no network exactly 1 min after load shedding kicks in

You are lucky, mine kicks the bucket as the power goes out.
What is the use to invest in backup-power, if the towers don't have any?

100%, I honestly feel that whatever towers they are using, they need to do something...last year even with load shedding I could use my phone for the whole 2 hours... Now nothing.

Weird, it must be a case of the local tower not having generators or battery backup.
I know my fibre holds out as long as my inverter does.

Loadshedding is causing havoc with UPS systems and generators. This will soon become uneconomical to maintain/repair/replace.

Keep on reporting it to Rain. Hopefully they will attend to the tower.

We get it very little but when we do have loadshedding in my are there is no signal on MTN, Telkom or Vodacom which means if you use any of those 3 providers and you fall down the stairs whilst being robbed and done up the arse, you can't call the emergency services.

Even my Telkom exchange's ADSL dies shortly after load shedding starts. Fortunately we have a very reliable MTN tower in the area so I can help clients on LTE when the power goes. It must be in a different area as we have had 2½ day power failures and this keeps going.

That is because of remote from the exchange MSANs and other nodes die as there is very seldom any backup power available at such nodes.
The power crises is a national disaster on every front you can think of.

I'm in PE and Load Shedding pre 2020 did not drop my ADSL line, however this year it varies from 15 to 40 min. I light of this thinking i'd go the LTE route but if towers are going to go down then WTF? I hope Telkom don't cut my copper.

any ADSL service still fed from a node in the exchanges will stay up as long as the battery and generator capacity is available. ADSL services fed from remote MSANs goes down sooner.
Mobile services fed from towers lasts for very short times. In our area, the moment the power fails VC goes into some sort of power saving mode and service quality starts dropping.
Hang on to your copper connection for as long as you can.
Fibre is great but then you have to provide the ONT with power for your service to stay up but we all have no idea if OS has provided backup for remote active nodes.

Thanks for that.
