So the Rain simcard can connect to both 65519 which is the home network for the rain sim and 65538 which is roaming but it's the same network and same towers..... Some tests done now.

Router: B315 + external antenna
Network Name: Rain Rtth (65519)
Cell ID: 205938690
LTE Band 3 (1800MHz)

As you can see same cell id which means same tower just different network name. So iBurst is up to something maybe the modem lock coming up the 1st but yeah same cell id same speeds same tower just different network name. :erm:

I stay in Stanger in Natal when i check the sites that offer rain products and they say no coverage but now when i do a network search on my phone i can see both the rain signals would it be worth getting a sim and testing?

Speak to @Yuu. HE is also from Stanger but failed to get acceptable signal. The signal is coming from the tower next to the N2 close to the dolphin coast so the signal is traveling to Stanger but so weak as far as Yuu told me it's not really connectable.

@cavedog then i must be lucky I ordered my Rain sim because all over Stanger i was picking up Rain signal. Yesterday there was an issue connecting today it is working fast fast 20meg down and 16megs up. Using B315 router I am impressed.

Sweet, iCuSD , where about in Stanger are you getting that? I tried last in October and have no access to the service now. That is very good speeds. I was getting around 1Mbps at the N2 tower as noted above. Maybe they activated the service now :D.

Shot for the mention @cavedog :p

@Yuu Stanger Heights near the school. What prompted me to try is as i am on Telkom Mobile I tend to manually select MTN from time to time as I have found Spar and Pick n Pay areas seem to be dead zones I always saw those Rain Rtth (65519) & Rain Rtth (65538) coming up then properly two weeks ago I did a search on my B315 and those popped up and there was another post, and some one had said they got useable speed from Prince Grant. So I signed up for Afrihosts 3 Months free sim only deals. I am guessing once people figure it all out the speeds will go to ****.

Just signed up for Rain off Peak for R250-00.
Service is OK for now. Speeds range from 3Mbps to 5Mbps. Would love to have 20 Mbps.

5 KM from King Shaka International - Dawncrest.

Hope they put up another tower close to Dawncrest.

More Investment in Towers is required.
More High Sites.

If they could give us :
R250 - Off Peak Unlimited
30 Gigs Peak for extra R50.
Then charge R50 a Gig it will outsell the expectations.

BIG potential for RAIN to become a real data player.

I dont use MTN for my heavy data.
Just Voice n Whatsapp.
I Boycott VodaCom.

You also a dreamer.

With the Imminent Launch of the Liquid Telecom 4G Network and hope they keep their CDMA pricing.

It is possible. Sadly though there is not enough competitive pressure from Operators to grab customers hence we need ICASA to intervene.

6 Operators and we still crying for Lower prices and Value.

I don't deny that 1 bit...but I live in the real world , not in the Kalahari with ostriches.
