Still on Vodafone router for Rain simcard. I have successfully changed the broadband connection settings. What do I do with the Router Settings? How do I change them from the attached?
You don't need to change any of that.

Hi,

First of all, I have very little experience with mobile data set ups so excuse my ignorance.

I am trying to set up a family friends' wifi device to use Rain's data sim.

The device is an unlocked Vodafone R216 mobile wifi. It works perfectly with a vodacom sim but not with Rain sim.

I have logged into the device where I can change settings. I have chosen a custom mobile connection which opens up all other settings, from here I inserted 'rain' as the APN. The next settings I don't know what to insert. 'Ipv4/ipv6 number' I have no clue what to insert here, a quick search on the interwebs I see some people using *99#, this doesn't seem to work. I tried typing in Auto or my own IP address but does not allow such input.

Can anyone guide me here how to get it set up please?

Thanks

Do exactly like this. The most common mistake is that people leave space after typing 'rain' in the APN box. Remove any space. I hope this helps

Lo and behold just used the settings sent by one member in the thread and it work right away for Telekom I'm very sure it will work any other network. The image with the MTN 3G network is the original shared settings. Nothing much, use afrihost as Apn and your cell phone number as the Apn number and click save, by the way need for and admin or user password as u can see in my Telkom settings. modem snip.PNG Screenshot_20210110-102419.jpg I'm using a vodafone R216.

I'm reply to myself to correct something I said, lol. I meant there is no need for a username and password as u can see my Telkom settings. Simply put in the Apn and Apn as your cell phone number.
