Rain will remove misleading average download speed claims

Rain has conceded defeat in its conflict with the Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) over its download speed claims.

This follows after the ARB ordered Rain to withdraw advertising claims related to its 5G network speed and unlimited data offering last week.

The ARB advertising appeals committee rejected Rain’s appeal of a July ruling on its 5G network claims, which found that the claims made by network’s 5G advertising were misleading.

For me I can confirm that my average download speed on Rain 5G is well above the 200Mbps mark advertised. It's a give and take situation. The next complaint will be that the advertising on Fresh Milk is misleading because according to me Fresh is 5min after it was obtained.....

The only claim they should have it that their customers will have an internet connection. I'm on LTE uncapped and it takes on average 12 minutes to watch a 5 minute YouTube video.

I for one appreciate the article. I struggle with Rain re speeds dropping like a teenager trying vodka for the first time and Rain itself is about as transparent as the ANC. And there are, when one do speak to them, a myriad of obstacles in the way. The usual ISP boolsheet like "move your router closer to the window" or "is everything plugged in"and so on.
Articles here does in this case for me (and I would bet many other Rain subscribers) what journalism should doe - i.e. reporting on problems thereby giving the people on the receiving end a voice. And in this case also a way of speaking back to Rain in the absence of a decent communication channel on their side.
As proof - check how the rain web dude actually asks Rain subscribers with problems for their details.
