Rain's strategy to expand its 5G network

Speaking at an event in Sandton, Johannesburg, Rain CEO Willem Roos outlined the state of the mobile operator's business and its plans going forward.

He said that the company currently has around 100,000 4G mobile data subscribers, with the majority of the business' revenue coming from its roaming agreement with Vodacom.

"For a large part of our 4G towers, the day-to-day managing of the sites is outsourced to Vodacom" no wonder their speeds have gone down the drain.

Anyone tried the Rain coverage map recently? you cannot zoom out more than about a city block, useless for actually looking at their coverage. Only decent if you want to check a specific address. Why would they do this?

If you disrupt the market and sell data too cheap then we will not buy wholesale data for R200 Million per month.

We buy from you to sell at a profit.

High Tariffs for Life : The consumer must pay the highest tariffs we charge.

Anyone tries to compete on price we will deal with them decisively.
