Raised by wolves [sci-fi]

Enjoying it so far (ep4) ...... knew it would be worth a watch when the Series thread cabal said they hated it

Is this coming out in 4K?

I'm still waiting for Westworld (due Nov. AFAIK) in 4K- I'll park this for 4K version too if it's in the pipeline?

Just noticed in the start of the intro song the voice counts down in Afrikaans.

Probably dutch or flemish or german somewhere in between. So it could easily give an Afrikaans ring. :)

That said the person singing is swedish so it could just be swedish that is properly articulated and sounds very similar to other germanic counting so could give the Afrikaans sound.

Nope, just before the singing starts the countdown is in Afrikaans.

Tien, nege, agt, sewe.

Its very feint but I listened to it again and my best guess is that its flemish or just the way its pronounced it could be a swedish accent.

I highly doubt this show would have randomly used actual Afrikaans counting but if that is somehow the case that would make the intro just more artsy and it is already damn good. :)

Flemish and Afrikaans counting sounds the same when spoken even though flemish spelling is closer to dutch the spoken language have a ton of overlap with Afrikaans sounds.

It was filmed is South Africa so not unlikely that it's Afrikaans.

It's Afrikaans in a female Afrikaans accent. Not Flemish. Not Dutch. Not Swedish.

Probably put as an Easter Egg as it is filmed in South Africa. The show is full of mysteries after all.

Ok I had no idea it was filmed in Cape Town. With that in mind then I would have to agree with you, homage to the filming location seems very likely. :D

^ really?

I recognised the mountains within the first few minutes of the opening scene.
If you don't live or travel regularly to CPT you probably wouldn't.

Indeed, filmed in Cape Town - you will even see the DTI symbols there.
Travis Fimmel has been training MMA in Cape Town a while now and he likes South Africa it seems

brilliant series, I especially liked the conflict between humanity carrying on into the future.

even when we are long ago off world, and made machines in our own image.

I met one of the SA crew about a year ago, she told me the name of the series back then, wasn't really supposed to tell me anything about it actually. I think I didn't ask her too much about it as I didn't want to get her into trouble, or I figured she wouldn't know much about the finer details of the plot in any event. Now my memory's a bit fuzzy but I think she said. "the dude from Vikings is in it" and that Ridley Scott was directing it, then once i got home imdb told me the rest i.e. the androids raising human children bit, but there wasn't a lot of detail up a year ago.

So besides all the screw-ups with the eye colours on the Necromancer model, my other gripe is that if the two Atheists with the face jobs know that the Necromancer, the dad and their kid are also atheist, why are they so aggressive towards them?
Why did he attack the Necromancer if she was actually on his side. And why question her about her motives, if they are ultimately the same as his own?

It looks like he went from atheist all the way to the other end of the spectrum of suicidal/suicide cult leader.
