I don't understand the snake part - given the nature of the parents. I expected some sort of hybrid.

While she was connected in that simulation something else must have operated on her and inserted the snake egg. She was not the mother and a human was never the father.

The main characters' transition from atheist to believer is set in motion early on. The state of his transition is already far along as foreshadowed by his wife saying "I can't remember your face".

The transition is complete when he has the dream where he says, "I know who I am", but when he claws away the fake face, there's nothing else underneath.

This is the best world and storybuilding I have seen in sci-fi in a long time.

Shows you how crap Hollywood series writers are when one get a 10 times better story by combining Sci Fi with biblical stories.

It seems like the 2 androids went through to core of the earth to the other side of the world and are in some tropical area with their craft is destroyed by the growing snake. Who knows what mysteries they will discover there?

It has. The issue I have with this show, is that one of the show runners said that the major arch will span over five or six seasons. I don't see this lasting that long, to be honest.

The plot got quite wacky towards the end there, things feel very unresolved.
