How else were they expecting people to go vote? I always assumed that nobody will be working that day.

I would have been in deep kak because I was going to be AWOL.

It is part of the joke. Afaik election days always been a public holiday.

Ramaphosa is simply acting like he achieved a new level of competency by somehow stating the obvious.

A public holiday like this has to be declared by the President John Tempus, looks like you are just too desperate to moan about something.

Oh, so we live in a dictatorship now ? Can the president also wish away poverty by decree ?

Each of the previous elections were a public holiday in order to vote, I see no reason why it should be news that the president declared election day a public holiday. Waste of everyones time and just trying to score browny points to make it a public article.

While we are on the topic since it seems this decree for Election day public holiday is such amazing work. What did Ramaphosa actually do over the last 2 years that improved anyones live in SA ? I wont hold my breath but give it a go.

Waste of everyone's time yet here you are, are you not supposed to be doing something more valuable with your time?
Or you thought you'd spare a few minutes to come and tell us what a waste of time it is?

This is simply to counter the excuse 'my boss wouldn't let me off work to go vote'.

We know the miscreants need every vote they can get, if the WMC gravy stops they have nothing.

Didn't realise he hadn't announced it yet. Just already assumed this was all sorted and it was a holiday. Most websites online were already showing it as a holiday anyway.

Not really news, but I get why it needs reporting so it's all official.

Great news! Allow us all to vote. Businesses can pay us from their profits. Who cares!

It's a holiday for me.

I lost my ID yonks ago so I applied for a new one two weeks ago, so I doubt I'll have it by the first, not that I doubt Home Affairs' ability to have it ready by then, but because I applied in a different province than the one that I'm registered to vote in.
