South Africa goes to lockdown level 3 — alcohol unbanned

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday that South Africa would return to adjusted level 3 lockdown regulations, relaxing the ban on alcohol and extending the hours of curfew.

Alcohol will be allowed for off-site purchase between 10:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Thursday. On-site consumption of alcohol will be permitted according to license conditions until 20:00.

Wow country is really obsessed with booze, what about actual important things like schools.

Let’s be honest that’s all people & restaurants and grocers obsess about.. one for consuming the other for profiting albeit not their primary product of sale.

SA is weird.

Is this from an embargoed press release? If so are you allowed to say when you got it?

If the civil unrest did cause a “superspreader event”, its effects will only begin to reflect in the data from this week.

So wait two weeks then?

Our parents sent us to school, to get a job, to earn a living, to buy alcohol, to make babies and to send them to school... The circle of life!

As much as I agree, there is a reality regarding the sales of alcohol. Alcohol is a major, not a minor, contributor to the economy. The very sale of alcohol is a contributor not only to the economy, but also for employment.

It is a product of which great care must be taken, commercially and socially.
