Ramaphosa announces extra public holiday

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared Friday, 15 December 2023, a public holiday to celebrate the Springboks becoming the first nation to win four Rugby World Cup titles.

The President had previously said he would consider doing so only if South Africa won the final, following requests from the public to make the Monday following the Springbok's victory over the home nation, France, a public holiday.

Who gets those days for free? Every company I've worked for took those from your leave days. Only difference is that some force you to take the leave and others don't really care either way?
