People in the EC say they are terrified of Covid yet social distancing is still not a thing.
Maybe it's the 10% who are speaking who are afraid of it while the 90% don't care.

More like the 1% who are speaking and the 99% who don't care anymore

Why would one of your family members die from it? Do you or any of them fit the know risk profiles of people who could suffer or die from a Covid-19 infection?

Further to the above: why do you expect other South Africans for forced to take responsibility for your personal health?
So what you're saying is, feck you if you get infected and die, it's your fault.

Would you be upset if one of your family members died from any one of the other causes that kill far far more people every year in SA? It seems weird to pick out a minority killing event for your feelings to linger on.
They can't get it from just going to the shop to buy bread...unlike COVID-19

it's pretty simple really. if you're dont care you should also give up your "right" to treatment if you get ill and need it.
pity about those who you infected though. shem for them.

Yes. You health is your responsibility.

If you disagree, explain to me why you expect me, and other South Africans, to take responsibility for your health?

They can get killed in a car crash. Shot in an armed robbery. Contract TB from someone coughing in the checkout line. Bronchitis, pneumonia, any other respiratory illness can be passed along in the same way and could potentially be lethal.

I ask again, why single out one single event to hang on?

maybe the lack of vaccine for it or the unknown long terms effects...not sure just spitballing. do you care to get it and let us know how it goes?

Who are these "they" you are so concerned for? And why them and not others that, say, die from complications of diabetes because of dietary misinformation spread by the Heart Foundation?

Because you don't live on a island with no one else around? Your poor choices affect those around you especially the older and other at risk people. Some small sacrifices can drop their risk levels significantly.

There's no vaccine for any of the other events I listed. Why are you insistent on just this one?
i agree there's no vaccine for stupidity. imagine if viruses dont mutate, wouldnt that be a gas. so easy to find a solution, how would humanity get to that point? contain the spread and mutation maybe, nah too easy and makes one care for others.

Why are the older and at risk people not making small sacrifices to drop their risk levels? Your argument is also assuming that people are going out and deliberately trying to infect others.

Mutate.

FFS!

Show us one coronavirus that mutated to a more deadly strain?

RNA viruses are notorious for mutating - to less harmful strains. Before you throw stupid accusations around, check your own.

By the way, any mutation (since you want to go that route) would render any vaccine or immunity completely irrelevant, and you may as well step into your backyard and start digging your grave as there will be no grocery trip or any such frivolity in your future. Crackdown and lock everyone up in perpetuity.

At risk people are already doing that, but everyone needs to do their bit to safeguard the whole country and prevent further lockdowns.

They are but there are far fewer of them and if the general public dies it the effect will be create.

World governments need to drastically backtrack on their ****ed up overreaction to this virus and handle it better. Of course that wont happen so were left to the lowest common denominators of mutants and morons to fix this.

If lockdowns worked, why do we need another?
If lockdowns didn't work, why do we need another?

If people didn't start going out as per normal after the lockdown we wouldn't have a resurgence. Northing to do with lockdown. But this will cause a lockdown yes, because during a lockdown the virus won't be transmitted as much.
