Chaos benefits fascists like the EFF and the Zuma factions. If it collapses they'll not allow it to recover

They will not have any choice. Their own people will hunt them and kill them like dogs in the streets. These people will all go into exile and hide in UK, Europe and the US where they will lead luxurious lifestyles while SA burns. They will play no role in what is about to happen in SA.

I think you underestimate the level of pain that would come from an Eskom collapse....

Going to be lots of pain - no gain saying it. The longer Eskom limps along, the less resources there will be left to get it up and running properly again. Decide where you want to suffer the pain, now, when you have maximal resources, or later when you have minimal resources. Choose.

There will be no resources left, regardless of when it collapses... So there is no choice.

Well, then best to collapse it now and get it over and done with, because it will not be saved no matter what they do or how hard they try. There simply are not enough money left to ensure this and in addition, there is no more skills left in this country to ensure this either. In addition, laws are preventing the fixing of Eskom too. Best is to let it rather go up in flames right now.

By maximum resources he is probably referring to his stash of tinned baked beans.

If Eskom's demise doesn't come soon they may expire, bearing in mind they were probably purchased in 1994.

Those resources will no longer exist and thus it will collapse.

Then it makes sense to keep it "functioning" for as long as possible while the resources exist...

Wishing for the country to collapse into turmoil that would more than likely look like a civil war (and possibly worse in some ways) is not something I would wish on anyone.

Keeping it going is only going to increase the turmoil and increase the period the turmoil will last, and I don't think any of us are old enough to shuffle of this mortal coil, before the "collapse " happens ...

So choose

No it won't increase the turmoil or the period.

There is still no choice and anyone who thinks there is, is ultimately deluded about just what a collapse of Eskom actually will entail for this country and its citizens.

Whether it collapses today, or tomorrow the end result will not change

Ramaphosa is more a procrastinating reactive than a pro-active person.

Ramaphosa does not have time to procrastinate.

Resources are seriously limited

The Unions have the ANC by the short and curly's, the ANC knows it, and the Unions know the ANC know it, and the Unions know that the ANC does not have the balls to go it alone.

The Unions do not believe that the bubble will burst.

So the ANC will do as the Unions tell them.

And thus Eskom will collapse, while Ramaphosa procrastinates, and the Unions enjoy their power trip. To oblivion.
