He said many countries around the world were facing an energy crisis, including the USA.
"The good thing with us is we are not sitting on our backsides. We are addressing the problem.
..."[However] we must dispel the myth that people who run parastatals are ill-equipped to do so. Many of them are good professionals and they need to be supported and assisted in their work."
On Etolls
He also told MPs that the government has to take unpopular decisions sometimes in the interest of its people. He was adamant, however, that ordinary South Africans supported the new e-toll system which saw tariffs reduced by 50% in some cases.
“As we speak now, the tolling system is receiving thousands of calls from ordinary motorists, who are saying ‘we want to know how to access the benefits that you announced’,” he told the National Assembly.
