Excellent news.

For context - how big of a deal is that? I mean it's obviously a lot of money, but how does it compare to other investment agreements?

That's a nice Big Number. Maybe we'll get our own Oil Refinery. The question is: which (un)lucky province will it be?

Significant, with China it was R94 billion.

#Focac: Johannesburg - The South African government announced yesterday that 26 agreements worth R94 billion were signed yesterday at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, adding fresh impetus to bilateral co-operation between China and South Africa.

Wow okay, that's a lot then. Let's build some oil factories and weapons plants and sand mills and have at it!

Don't know about other investments but for perspective it's about 10% of South Africa's annual budget. We also don't even have 20 South African companies with a market value larger than this.

Mercedez recently announced 10 billion Rands investment. This is 13 times that.

Pointless post. The man secures a deal which may go some ways in rectifying that. Glass half full bud.
Glass 0.1% full, if you think the investments gained equal anywhere close to half of what has been stolen you're more of a rose tinted glass guy then a glass half full guy.

If 0.1% is $10 billion, it makes R130 000 billion stolen (or 130 trillion) which equates to 34 years with 100% of the GDP stolen.

Your math is slightly off!

Because the ANC have and continue to do stupid/illegal things is no reason to paint them all with the same brush. You can’t be pessimistic about everything that happens, the term for that is hopeless, and not much gets accomplished by hopeless people.
