I’m interested in giving them my spare power, but only if they don’t expect me to pay for the privilege to do so.

I’m not forking out 15K for a prepaid meter so they can have compliance.
If net production is not allowed, then I'm only willing to do so for a minimum of 1:1 in credits...

All this talk about social compacts. I touched on it in another thread, but do people actually know what a social contract is in political speak?

This is what i'm hoping too - They'll obviously pay a fraction of the cost that you buy power at, but that's fine - Ideally you can export enough to cover their 'transmission' fees, without some stupid hard limits
I guess we wait and see what Eskom comes up with WRT the actual regulations

Yeah I don’t even mind giving it away for free quite honestly, as long as it doesn’t cost me anything.

I believe it’s something like 70c which is equal to their cost price or some such.

No, don't settle for mediocrity. Either 1:1 in credits, or if it needs to be at their cost price, then remove the limit on net production...

I don’t think 1:1 will ever be a reality because then they aren’t winning anything on generation.

Didn’t realise there was a cap, is it a Gauteng thing or Eskom direct thing?

So wait till September October then.

2023? 2024? Forewarned, though emphasis is placed on bringing in private generation, the multiple entities once established will serve to centralise all these mechanisms under the state. Not only will they compete, but they will also cannibalise, or so I expect in the time to come.

Hints that the state wants private businesses to become state cooperatives are starting to show. NHI is the biggest step in this direction.

I think they will argue that a 1pm summers day kwh does not equal a 6pm winters day kwh.
That's a reasonable argument. Then they should install bidirectional meters at their cost and pay a reasonable time of day fee. I'm willing to let the limit slide if you can at least earn back your usage in credits...
