Ramaphosa's load-shedding lies

President Cyril Ramaphosa blamed historical issues at Eskom for the electricity crisis, saying the current load-shedding woes stretch back fifteen years.

Speaking at a media conference following his UK visit, Ramaphosa said when Eskom management wanted to build new power stations years ago, they were stopped.

It's amazing how journalists cannot understand basic words like 'lie'.
Just because of that one word they are unable to grasp, a whole bullshit article gets pulled out of thin air.
Impressive

Apartheid and Jan will be blamed for the next few hundred years. It is always easier to blame somebody else for everything that goes wrong.

The previous government was bad and apartheid was wrong but the current one is just as bad or even worse.

They are setting a very high standard with the lies, corruption, etc. They don't care about the rest of the SA citizens. For them it is just about enriching themself and their buddies and families.

They just need the votes from the people and thereafter they forget about everything and everyone until the next election.

Eskom went from one of the best in the world to the worst like most of our SOE's.

A solution to the mess we find ourselves in at the moment is going to be very difficult and/or impossible.

Journalists are only second to politicians in terms of lying. They get a degree in lying. So if you're a compulsive liar, two careers are suitable for you. Become a weather forecaster, or a journalist.

“They were told, no, don’t, the power stations will be built by the private sector. You just keep the lights on,” Ramaphosa told journalists.
"Told" by who?

Cvnt Cyril said this over a week ago but now, all of a sudden, his "lies" are headline news.

Well I mean he's not wrong about the current woes stretching back as far as 15 years (further if you know the history of the "white paper").

He's also correct in that older powerstations had their maint deferred in order to avoid/lessen loadshedding until such time as Medupi/Kusile would come online. After which certain powerstations would either be mothballed or maint caught up on with an "excess" supply available.

The issue is years of escalating corruption and inaction have made things much worse and potentially impossible to rectify in under 5 years.
