Johannesburg Water, the City of Johannesburg’s water and sanitation service provider wishes to inform residents in the Roodepoort area that water supplies may be interrupted in the area due the a burst on a Rand Water feeder pipe in Meredale.
The Rand Water pipe, 1.2meters in diameter ruptured in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Johannesburg Water technicians arrived on site minutes of the first report coming through and will continue to assist their Rand Water counterparts until the situation is resolved.
The burst pipe serves as the main water line into Rand Water’s West Rand supply area including Roodepoort and surrounding areas. Although supplies have not run dry yet, however, this will change as the once repair work on the damaged pipe begins.
The affected suburbs in Roodepoort are as follows:
Witpoortjie; Lindhaven; Grobler Park; Helderkruin; Wilropark; Roodekrans; Florida; Helderkruin; Horison;Constantia Kloof;Weltevredenpark;Radiokop; Wilgeheuwel; Strubens Valley;Little Falls

Johannesburg Water would like to urge residents in the affected to areas touse water sparingly and also to store enough water for emergency consumption. The company would also like to assure residents that it will continue to work closely with Rand Water to try and normalize the situation as soon as possible.
