Quick quiz... when was the first ransomware attack?
As far as I know, it was 1989 and floppy disks were used.
Cryptolocker raked in around $3 mil in total from over 250 000 systems infected.
Ransomware is probably the biggest threat to anyone collecting sensitive data.
Moral of the story? Don't collect more than you absolutely need to conduct business. Ironically (according to me) it's the criminals who are going to be society's saving grace in that regard, not POPIA et al.

“We believe that the only solution to the problem is to ban ransom payments,” said Callow"
As if that is stopping the ransomware groups. Its like saying lets ban stealing, then the problem will go away

Their revenue will dry up if fewer people pay up. Trouble is it has to be a global effort. They often don't care where their victims sit.

These groups should hack this government to crap and release all data to the public.
Unfortunately, like the Mafia, they don't commit anything to writing. They do make toilet paper with black markings on them though. I think they call it a "plan".

Not likely people who would have paid will still pay just not disclose it.

In places where it can't be policed or prosecuted, likely yes.
Sadly policing it is likely not going to happen here

That would do nothing. Government holds little to no info on you as an individual.

Your actual private data sits with banks, corporate and insurance companies. That's the information you actually need to worry about.

I think he was referring to dirt on the government.

Sad thing is the public knows all the dirt on government already. What makes it even more sad is that no one is held accountable and they keep getting away with it.

We need proof, not what we think.

Please do some good and hack the ANC and dump the data

What is there to hack?

I am curious at to what may be stored in their DMS, but knowing the ANC and their poor IT practices I guess that most documents are shared as email attachments only, but the ANC is also old school meaning that most critical comms would be limited to voice and most ideas and ideals are shared personally in chambers.

Since Stella's alleged Whatsapp hack I am sure they changed this, IMs, as an ANC comms method and I doubt they use SMS other than to send reminders.

I guess their email archives will hold some intriguing data, but you will need to bug Luthuli house and their houses, their phones, and access their email.

Good luck.
