I took my Hilux for a 130,000km service yesterday morning at 8:30am - this is a minor service, they told me my vehicle would be ready at 2-3pm - I called at 2pm to find out if I could come collect at 3pm - they couldn't tell me, and got the service agent to call me back at 3pm, the vehicle would not be ready today, they apoligized at promised it would be ready by 10am today (Friday). I need the car urgently as I''m going away this weekend and need an off-road vehicle (leaving at 12pm which they were aware of yesterday). The service agent promised to call me at 10am to let me know the vehicle is ready.

I just called as I haven't heard from him, he isn't working today - spoke to another agent who handed me to the workshop foreman - they don't know what the progress is on my car - and I should consider it a "work in progress". They have now told me they'll call me back with an update - at 11am I am going to collect the car, I will take it without paying if they are not finished.

Its absolutely shocking what service is coming to in this country - they want TWO days to do a minor service.

I used to take my Tazz there. Last 3 times, I got crappy service.
Apparently the one in Claremont is better.

Got a Suzuki now, so don't have to go there again.

And McCarthy are going through some tough times, you'd think their staff would at least try to improve their service.

That is absolutely appalling! I've never heard of a two day minor service. Keep us updated.

Well - they didn't phone back - I drove there and collected my car.

Story as follows:
1.) Walk in - stand for five minutes - no assistance.
2.) Ask the woman behind the counter if anyone actually works here, she calls someone.
3.) He disappears for 15min., comes back and said they haven't started on my car.
4.) I told him I'm taking my car now - took the keys from him and gave them to my girlfriend, told her to leave.
5.) I then asked to speak to the dealer principal, he was 'too busy' - I said "right now!", they took my up to some guy claiming to be Mccarthy Toyota Managing Director.
6.) I expressed extreme disgust in their service, telling him I am going away this weekend, and am driving around in a potentially unsafe vehicle, I specifically asked them to check the clutch, as its behaving funny, and asked them to do wheel alignment as I know the alignment is out.
7.) He said they'd do it now - even though I'd already told him we have to leave at 12pm, and this has already delayed us by 2 hours.

Needless to say, I'll be checking if he is the managing director - if so, I won't be taking my vehicle to Toyota again - private mechanics all the way.

I can't believe their don't care attitude.

These idiots actually stamped my service book as serviced, and this morning I received an SMS thanking me for servicing my car at N1 City - and should I have comments, to call "Eugene" - not going to waste my breath.

I was going to say that they'd still do that.

I told them to ask the moron who serviced my car what I think.

IIRC - they phone after about a week - I'm going to ask the guy if its a prank call.
