Rare cars on SA road - part 2

Weird looking Audi I saw that looks like a waste disposal skip,

Why would anybody model a car after a rubbish skip is beyond me, did they run out of ideas and decide to make something hideously ugly

Pity about the bumper sticker,
One thing I will never get used to compared to jhb,

Saffers are generally quite conservative bunch of people,

didn't even care, or remotely interested in the middle east,
one of the reasons we liked it so much here,
now of course people stick their noses in it, and it makes me mad.

Great day for car spotting.

Easiest way to tell is to tap a body panel, a real 356 is metal, most replica's are fibreglass. I don't recall a 356 with anything larger than a 1600cc engine but they are very much like Beetle engines in design. A neighbour in our old house had three 356's, a a 912, 911T and 911 SC I think it was, amongst his Triumph's, Austin Healeys, MG's, planes, etc. I used to love being invited in to his garage which had a two post lift, spray booth, lathe, milling machine, chemical treatment plant, various workbenches and tools.

could have read the signage wrong (angle) could have been 1600
based on the drivers i would reckon not replicas and classic car drivers tend to have a look
