Raru stops taking orders

Online retailer Raru is no longer taking orders, according to a notice on its website.

Its closure follows months of customer complaints that orders were not being delivered on time and refunds weren’t being processed on time.

SA Gamer regulars moved to Discord in anticipation of the forum being shutdown.

Grim days in SA continue.

Why did they buy that forum? I'm not too active there and never was but from what I remember it basically got put aside and left to die once Raru took over, or what's the story there?

No idea.

It was fairly active in it's heyday (unrelated to Raru) - I met some nice people there.

Really hope they are not closing down. Never had any problems with them.
They were great for books and music and games etc. years ago. The last while they've bee dropping the ball a lot on orders.

Very surprised, Raru was always my go-to for games and gaming peripherals and they always came through on the expected time with their orders. Cancelling orders also went through smoothly and never had problems with them, right up until middle of this year.

I'm concerned because I have at least one preorder with them for, I believe, later this month, and now I'm concerned that they're not only not going to fulfil, but that the money's gone.

Is it safe to assume all the people they owe money, can now kiss their money goodbye? Surely the banks can do reverses for them? That's what one of my co-workers ended up doing. Sucks for the people they owe. I wonder how much money they have made off with

Ordered from them 4x. every single time was an issue. And I had to order from them because the other price scammers, Takealot, never had stock.
Never did that again.
