Hey guys,

Maybe I am just noob but I have the following issue:

- My RAZR is Vodacom bought and I have an MTN sim inserted in the device.
- on Vodacom the emergency number is 100... (I think you see where I am going with this)

When trying to retrieve a voicemail and I dial 100 (the number for MTN voicemail) it goes through to the emergency contact centre. So - now I am unable to retrieve voicemails...

I saw an option on the phone to setup the voicemail which I did, but it still auto directs to emergency services.

Any advice/help?

Try dialing 083100

And to my knowledge the emergency number on Vodacom aint 100. It is 112 for all networks. 100 is the number for Vodacom prepaid users to recharge with airtime etc I think.

Oh and PS: Congrats on the RAZR. Fantastic selection. Pity bout the crappy sim card inside it though :)

Oh and double PS: If you got the RAZR from Vodacom and you using MTN sim...dont be surprised if your warranty is no longer in effect if something happens to it and you try and book it in at a Vodacare centre. Just a friendly warning. :)

This is quite strange since I'm also using a phone from Vodascum with my Mtn sim. I'm not having any problems at all and have never experienced this. It doesn't make sense for a call made on an Mtn sim to go through to another networks service. Best go visit your nearest Mtn dealer and ask for assistance. Oh and don't worry about the warranty, I'm sure the chances are rare that you will need to send it in for repairs unless Vodascum sold you a defective unit.

Sent from a galaxy far, far away...

Erm 100 on Vodacom is to load Air time, so I have no idea how you getting that right,

I have a HTC Desire HD and Xperia Play and swapped MTN, Cell C and Vodacom sims on them all the time and never had a problem in getting voicemail from any of the sim cards used.

Why would this be the case? A friend of mine bought a phone from Vodacom a few weeks ago and specifically asked whether using the phone with a different sim card would void the warranty. The woman at Vodacom said it would not. (She did say it would invalidate your insurance claim if you've insured the phone on that contract, but it would not void the warranty.)

Thanks guys... Yes, the warranty is void if you put another SIM in, but not too fussed about it. The phone is behaving (apart from the voicemail story. I will pop into my local MTN this morning and see what they say - hopefully I can get it sorted...

Correction, your Vodacom warranty is void, the OEM is still legally obligated to honor the warranty.

You can still take the phone to Motorola to get repaired/swapped out for manufacturing defects.
