@ginggs: Thanks, that makes sense :) The consultant who helped me out didn't explain it that way. Essentially, she said I'd be billed for the full amount (at least, that's how I understood it).

@Cell_C: Has there been any progress on this issue? I signed up to RBM on Friday and am experiencing the same problems as everyone else:

- SMS bundle does not show
- cannot sign up for CellC self-service

Also, what Android network monitoring app does RBM/CellC suggest we install on our phones to confirm data usage? At the moment I'm using NetSentry which shows data usage of +-90MB since Saturday evening. When requesting my balance, RBM/CellC says I only have 205MB left. Where did my other 205MB go?

Hey there cell c when can we as rbm contract users expect that these issues concerning free minutes and sms not showing and that we cant register on cell c web site be resolved?

It would be good to now what went wrong?

Because every, rbm contract user has precisely the same problems!!!

Root it, install a custom rom from XDA :)

Best thing I ever did :)

Also having the same problems mentioned here, no SMSs and unable to access the self service portal on the site, have sent a PM.

Cyanogen Mod 7 has been released for the Defy and it is damn near glorious. Tripled my phones processor power and made everything prettier and better.

I wholeheartedly recommend it.

PM if you need help flashing CM7, I'll gladly assist.

Aaarghh. Was on holiday in the cape for 2 weeks. Was able to phone 140 and talk to someone to find out how many sms's I have left.
Now back home, 140 keeps saying network busy like it has always been for the last 2 months.

When will we be able to register on the self-service site???

I am slowly but surely loosing my patience. This should have all been tested etc before RBM launched! I also dont understand why it should take so long to resolve.

@Cell_C: Although the service could be a hundred times better, I've had no problems sending SMSs or surfing the net. How far are the tech guys/girls from fixing the problems listed above?

I hear you,man! I also cannot recieve any mms from about 12:00 yesterday. Which is a PITA because I use it to monitor a security camera. EDIT: MMS seems to be a vodacom issue on the tower as my wife is also not getting mms's.

I managed to receive one MMS on my phone. The others just notified me there is a message but it wont download it. I just told everyone now on my contacts that they must use WhatsApp to send me pics etc. :)

I use the mobile.redbullmobile.co.za apn because I cannot download mms's when roaming on vodacom with the mms apn. It uses my data bundle then, but at least it works.

Sad to hear, after 2 months since the launch. This makes porting seem less attractive TBH.

With all the RBM issues as mentioned on this thread, will you recommend RBM to anyone.
I am thinking of getting the RBM 200 contract, but am not sure after reading this thread.

These issues are really minor, I'd say the Motorola Defy on the RBM contract is well worth it.
