Hi,

I have decided to reformat tonight. I just got a new HDD so I am changing my OS HDD so a format is in order. I am on Win 7 X64 and installing Win7 X64. I am taking all my other drives out my PC so I dont re-format the wrong drive (like last time ).

Just wondering if you guys have any tips for me? Like what not to do and what do?
I am installing an anti-virus before anything else if you were going to suggest it.

I am planning making this my 'final' re-format for the year so I am gonna make sure everything is in order. I am thinking of leaving about 200-250GB for my OS partition so it doesnt become full.

Thanks

200GB for an OS partition is about 3 times what I would recommend as a minimum to 'never run out of space'.

Other than that, it's pretty straight-forward and easy these days...

I know it is a lot but I want to be safe. I like to install quite a few games and that takes up space.

Why do you want to split your drive into more that one partition? Are you dual booting linux or something?

I normally.. or have done in the past. Installed and if everything seems fine.do an Acronis Image. Then go from there... anti-virus not as important as a good firewall I reckon.

Download firewall & antivirus onto flash disk. Disconnect pc from network. Now install win7, install firewall & antivirus, reconnect to network.
