Re-Purposing Old hot water geysers for cold water storage ?

Your municipal water is fed under pressure. If you install a JoJo tank you are effectively converting to low pressure with a pressure pump to get it back to the taps. (a JoJo will not not take the 4Kpa municipal pressure).

If you install an old geyser, you will still need a one-way valve + pressure pump to feed in case there is no municipal pressure otherwise the water will be stuck in the container.

My household uses 7Kl per person which means about 220l per day. I do not think you will solve your problem with a 300l backup.... you should aim for 2-5Kl (with some notification to conserve should you dip below 90%)
Thanks
Agreed --
Pressure reduction valve for JoJo low pressure cold water
( depends on what sort of new kind of tank they come out with ? )

Pump and one-way valve into existing geyser
Once the municipal water and pressure goes away you will still need a pump -- not so ?
Extra stuff
BUT
Desperate measure for desperate times ( NO municipal water )
ANY idea how QUICKLY a toilet starts stinking ..????

Not a large four person and above house so I reckon 1,000 Litres should do the [temporary] trick

Perhaps a custom designed and built tank would be best -- just need a suitable metal cylinder and weld up the two ends with some holes and threads for attaching stuff ..

Typical Geyser Dimensions you looking at about:

200L
Height 134CM
Width 60 Cm

250L
Height 164CM
Width 60CM

So the Jojo is slightly fatter but shorter :)
The geyser currently in the attic / loft / roof is -- HORIZONTAL
164cm would then refer to -- LENGTH
NO head room !

You haven't really mentioned, Whats the space you have to play with just (unless i missed it) that 2M was too big.

If under 93CM , then ya a geyser is you best bet as that can be placed horizontally or vertically - this JoJo cannot be placed horizontally.

you cant use those for longer term storage. the water will go green
Not for storage, but as in the OP's requirement which is only a buffer as the water will be recycled daily if connected to municipality supply as I understand it.
