Receiving free minutes when someone calls you

On Telkom Mobile....

How does this work? Do I only get free minutes if another TM subsciber call me, a subsciber from any network including landlines?

I believe the deal has been phased out over the last year or more. Only "old" prepaid customers get it and once you migrate to the new plan, you can go back. You got free minutes regardless of where the call came from.

Thats the thing. I have a sim which is about 4 or so month old.

Only recently did I notice that when I check my balance I get an sms telling me "You've got X number of free minutes which you can use from the first of next month"

So the deal is still there...

I have activated 4 TM prepaid sims over the last 18 months or so. 3 of them was "8ta more" and one is "Prepaid PSB Data Promo" at my insistance. They are mostly used for data and SMS, so I can't say for certain that they don't receive free minutes, but I highly doubt it.

If you are on the new Sim-Sonke deal from TM then you don't get the free minutes from incoming calls deal. If you are on the older SIMs from 8ta you still get the deal.

However over the last few months my free minutes are not accumulating as fast as they used to. I have 20:03 of incoming calls this month so far, but only got 2:16 in free call minutes.

I use to get an SMS on regular basis informing me of the free minutes available etc, available for next month but recently haven't received such SMS at all. Reading their TOS with this package you have to be a frequent caller etc or else it gets discontinued.


I was disappointed ;(
