Was on my way back to Joburg earlier this evening, around 8.20pm I just passed the Rondebult Turnoff on the N12, there was a bakkie reversing in two of the 3 lanes.

Was he trying to get back to the offramp he missed and couldn't reverse to save his life!? By the time I noticed him, he was in my lane (middle one) and I swerved to the left to miss him, the Merc in the right hand lane also nearly caught his tail light!

This all at 110km/h and him reversing at 15km/h TOWARDS us! I really hope there wasn't an accident, as the highway was quite busy tonight!

Alot of 'shyte' driving going on... I had a drama on Friday and I'm too lazy to type it all out, but dude, I'm starting to hate driving when there are 'other' drivers on the road, they all suck! :)

reversing on the highway has become a far to common sight unfortunately, as is cutting over 3 lanes to make the turn-off...

...seems like more and more people has lost the ability (maybe never had it) to think more than 2s ahead

Definitely! Today, in the space of five minutes I saw more people driving while speaking on their phones than not on their phones!!

Then I get to the top of a stop street 200m away from my house, I stop, a blonde towing her trailer comes flying up behind me and slams the break. She didnt hit, by inches, and apologised with a hand wave. Next turn left (no stopping though), so I put my indicator on well in advance for the bitch to see, she comes flying up behind me and then has to swerve out into the oncoming lane not to hit me again!! Luckily for her there were no oncoming cars and all I did was hoot and swear.

Well people are generally morons. That won't change just because they're in a car.

at some point you would think the instinct to survive would kick in and that reversing on the highway aint a good idea. But i guess not. They will come short soon. Seen a guy run across a highway not too long ago. Idiot pulls up his jacket to cover his face while running across. Maybe he thought doing that made him invincible... car swerved to avoid the idiot.

:D:mad::D Yep....even I've had my "mad" moments:eek:
Only thing one can really do is to keep you eyes open and try to predict where the next accident will occure before it does and react quickly.

"Welcome to SA.... gotta love the place..."
A buddy of mine use to say....
"If you can't take a JOKE you can't live in africa...":)

I've had the experience of having nearly been killed by some **** reversing in the fast lane of the N4 highway near Middleberg.

Also there was the **** driving in the wrong direction of the Nelmapias offramp (i.e. using it as an onramp to end up driving in the wrong direction of the highway). I "informed" him of the errors of his ways.

The mind boggles...

I thought that it was illegal to reverse on the highway in the first place

yes, illegal BUT it seems 90% of the driving population seems to think traffic rules, are more like bendable guidelines.

today, while standing in traffic, caused by a non-working traffic light, mr taxi driver and ex-passangers, decided not to wait in their queue and rather drive through ongoing traffic and pushing those cars off the road to get pass

Happened to me as well, funny thing is 10 seconds earlier I joked about someone I know doing the same thing I was about to do! :p

true they happen, everyone makes 'em...but you can often spot ppl that do it in error : they give appologetic wave, look embarrassed etc...

...but when someone has that oblivious look then you now, its just another day being a moron driver
