Could probably be... not quite sure TBH

Z2300s for R1321...

Z4s for R796...

Aaargh!

Make a list and see which one ticks the most boxes, dont forget to factor in price.

That's how I decided on getting my Creative GD580 :D

get the Z2300, they are THX certified and you wont have to upgrade your pc speakers for a long time. I use to have the X-530's and upgraded to the Z-2300's, its night and day. If you not thinking of getting a better sound card in the near future then get Z4's

Need a THX certified sound card too for Z2300? And I heard something about THX certified sound engineer for installation for your THX home theatre system?

Got the Z4s guys, thanks for the help.

The Z2300s were more of a want than a need. :D

I am extremely impressed with the sound quality of the Z4s. Excellent treble, mids and bass. High frequencies are not drowned out by the bass at high volume. These are perfect for my needs in a small room.

Starcraft sounds sound crap now. :D

I had the same experience with Diablo2, which was caused by the crappy Nforce onboard sound + drivers. An X-Fi brought a massive :D to my face.

I see... I thought it was because of the music/sounds being a low bitrate.

These Z4s have a noise ratio of >92dB, wonder if it'll be worth my while getting a decent sound card soon?

If you were in Pta, I'd invite you over to hear the difference in gaming audio. Digital music was better too, although not as dramatically-so as improvement in gaming was, for me. This was purely going from onboard to an X-Fi. I had the speakers for 3 or 4 months before I upgraded the soundcard.

Would've liked to have heard the difference.

Would this entry level X-Fi be decent?

Creative sound blaster X-Fi XtremeAudio , xtreme fidelity engine , DTS + Dolby Digital built-in decoding - 7.1 pci sound card , 64-bit OS support , 24-bit crystalizer ( 24bit/96kHz/108dB SNR ) , X-Fi CMSS-3D , EAX advanced HD , coaxial SPDiF out - Includes Low Profile pci bracket for 2U rackmount case or flex-atx - ( antec minuet ).

for R650 or so.

Will there be a big difference in high bitrate mp3 and lossless audio?

I would stay away from the XtremeAudio...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi#X-Fi_Xtreme_Audio
it does not use x-fi technology.

If you really want a Creative then dont go for their entry level stuff, if you want X-fi go for the Xtremegamer or Auzentech prelude.

Avoid, as Dobee stated. You're looking at R1,000 roughly for a good quality soundcard, else buy a good condition, high-end 2nd-hand card.

pc speakers, medium loudness, loud enough to rockout one room, the best quality i've ever heard, go for the JBL Spyro, i've got them, they're excellent! or JBL creatures.
