so i discovered on of my (old) phones has been stolen.
the box is long gone.

is there any place the imei is recored on a mbp ( console / connected devices etc).
there are a number of full backups of the device (blackberry desktop software), the phone also appears in the bluetooth device list.

the phone has also connected to the wifi network at home on a number of occasions - i do know it's wifi mac address is stored on the old router.

any ideas ?

Whos you service provider? I recall Vodacom's online portal used to have a page which listed your device info incl imei. Not sure about the other SP though. Otherwise just give your SP help centre a call, I'm sure that after jumping through a few hoops you'll eventually find somebody who can give you that info. Good luck

hehe
i've been jumping through hoops of fire with them already this morning - my arse is still on fire !

quite ironic that by law one now has to report a lost or stolen phone to saps - but the networks refuse to supply the imei number - despite leaping successfully through the security questions.

Get a Police Case for the theft, then approach the provider. they will typically retain 3-5 yrs of data for the H/VLR due to RICA (though i remember working on telecoms providers with much larger historic records :D). so its more a case of getting the right authorization needed to get the info.

The weird thing is if you on contract they generally happy to give this info to you as they keep track of the device for their own tech support and maintenance contracts of the devices, so usually on those systems which call centre folk can access. Pre-paid however will only be on the H/VLR so authorization is more intense(*or should be)
