Recovery of data from crashed laptop running on Mandriva

Hi

So my laptop has been written off thru water damage.
Now i wana get my data from da hard drive. How can i do that?

I know that i need to put da drive into an external casing. But will i be able to access the information?

F.Y.I i had a dual boot system, Vista & Madriva. The Vista had no password but the Mandriva did.

All help will be appreciated

Download Knoppix and create a live boot CD.

Connect external HDD to Knoppix system

Copy Vista data off to safe location.

Copy mandriva data off to safe location.

Relax

You don't need an external housing. Get one of these gadgets:

Providing the disk wasn't damaged, you should be able to access both partitions from any linux box with USB ports.
